Ho'okupu:
Exchange in Gratitude for Metaphysical Services Rendered
Ho'okupu means "to cause to sprout, to make it grow." Ho'okupu, in the context of asking for spiritual assistance, then becomes a gift given in exchange for spiritual Mana (the Hawaiian term for life force energy) in order to cause the healing process "to sprout."
Now, to all energy recipients: how a person listens to what his or her own Spirit says should be exchanged for an attunement or a healing is a journey of self-discovery!
To maintain the state of being Pono is to follow a philosophy of gratitude for abundance, as determined by an appropriate engagement of Spirit. Gratitude is an instant activator of the state of being Pono, which enhances a person's positive healing and learning experiences. Thus, all healing and instructional work I do is performed on ho'okupu terms. Therefore, what is needed to maintain the balance caused by the exchange between you and me is what becomes ho'okupu for the opportunity to receive a healing session or become an active student of Halau 'Aha Hui Lanakila.
How does the term ho'okupu translate Off Island? When contemplating a donation, it is important to keep in mind that you, as the requesting Recipient, cannot experience healing or learning in a vacuum. Life is about maintaining balance: it is not about entitlement and/or obtaining something of value to you for free. Living life is experiencing the dynamic interaction between the Universe and you with Gratitude. I do not offer healing and teaching services for my sole benefit, but in order for a recipient/student to truly benefit from receiving my life-energizing gifts of healing and knowledge, balance in the Universe must be maintained through a give-and-take exchange (compensation for services provided) between Recipient/Student and Practitioner/Teacher.
It is foremost in my heart to offer Reiki and my healing Mana to as many people as possible. It is my definition of the
Great Work, because Reiki is about healing the world, one person at a time.
